Are you worried about a child?
Are you worried about a child?
At Harvills Hawthorn Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of all children is our highest priority — both inside and outside of school. We want to empower parents, carers and community members with the information they need to protect children.
What To Do If You Are Worried About a Child
If you suspect a child is in danger or suffering significant harm, you should act immediately to ensure their safety:
1. Emergency Situations:
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 without delay.
2. Non-Emergency Concerns:
If you are worried but the situation is not urgent, you can contact:
- Sandwell Safeguarding Team:0121 569 3100 (available outside office hours)
- West Midlands Police (non-emergency):101
- NSPCC Helpline (free, 24/7):0808 800 5000
Why Reporting Concerns Matters
- Early intervention helps prevent harm from escalating.
- You do not need to be certain abuse is happening — raising concerns can save a child’s life.
- Your information will be handled confidentially and shared only with those who need to know to protect the child.
Additional Support and Advice
If you are unsure or need guidance, the NSPCC helpline offers confidential advice to anyone worried about a child’s safety.
By working together as a community, we can ensure every child grows up safe, cared for and protected from harm.
